Breathing treatment aims to fight ICU lung infections faster

This study tested whether adding an inhaled antibiotic (amikacin) to the standard intravenous antibiotics could help patients with ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) recover better. Researchers wanted to see if delivering the medicine directly to the lungs could clear the infection faster, reduce time on the ventilator, and shorten the hospital stay. They compared 90 patients who received the inhaled treatment plus standard care against those who received standard care alone.
