Tiny tots, big science: MRI test for baby muscle power

NCT ID NCT03976596

First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study aimed to see if a special type of MRI (called phosphorus magnetic resonance spectroscopy) can reliably measure how well babies' muscles produce energy. Researchers planned to test healthy, full-term infants twice within 1-10 days. However, the study was stopped early after enrolling only 2 babies, so no firm conclusions can be drawn.
