New hope for babies with leukemia: experimental drug combo trial

NCT ID NCT02553460

Summary

This study is testing whether adding two cancer drugs, bortezomib and vorinostat, to standard chemotherapy is safe and effective for infants under 1 year old with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Researchers want to see if this combination helps more babies survive longer with fewer side effects. The treatment involves multiple phases of chemotherapy over many months, and some children may need stem cell transplants after completing the study therapy.
