Scientists map tiny eye vessels in premature babies to fight blindness

Summary

This study aims to understand how blood vessels develop around a critical part of the eye (the fovea) in premature infants. Researchers will use special eye scans to observe these vessels in up to 16 infants who are at risk for retinopathy of prematurity, a leading cause of childhood blindness. The goal is to gather basic knowledge about normal and abnormal eye development, not to test a treatment.
