First seen Apr 19, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tests whether using an incentive spirometer—a device that encourages deep breathing—can lower the risk of lung inflammation (pneumonitis) in people with advanced lung cancer receiving chemotherapy and radiation. About 100 participants will use the device 10 times every hour while awake during treatment and for three months after. Researchers will track lung complications, survival, and quality of life over one year.
