Bladder cancer chemotherapy comes home: new trial tests convenience and safety
NCT ID NCT06704191
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether giving chemotherapy directly into the bladder at home is safe and acceptable for people with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. About 40 participants will receive their usual medications—such as BCG, gemcitabine, docetaxel, or mitomycin—at home instead of in a clinic. The goal is to see if home treatment reduces disruption to daily life while remaining safe and effective.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
BCG solution, docetaxel, gemcitabine, mitomycin
What this could lead to
If successful, this could make bladder cancer treatment more convenient by allowing patients to receive therapy at home instead of traveling to a clinic.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial with only 40 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Home treatment may have safety risks or be less acceptable than expected.
