First seen Apr 22, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tests a training program for healthcare providers that teaches them to see each patient as an individual and understand their perspective. The goal is to improve communication with children who have sickle cell disease. About 30 providers from three hospitals will be randomly assigned to either the empathy training or a standard education session. The study will measure whether the training leads to more patient-centered conversations during clinic visits.
