Bridging the gap: new plan aims to get rural patients to eye surgery
NCT ID NCT07333248
Summary
This project aims to fix a broken link in eye care in rural Assam, India. Currently, most patients identified with cataracts or vision problems during community screenings never make it to the hospital for treatment. The study will work with 2000 adults to understand and remove the barriers—like cost, travel, and fear—that stop people from getting care. It will test a new support system with patient guides, transport help, and better counseling to help more people complete their referral and get sight-restoring surgery.
