First seen Jan 24, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving the medicine lidocaine through a vein during surgery can help control pain after paraesophageal hernia repair. About 50 adults having this surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either lidocaine or a placebo (inactive salt water). The goal is to see if lidocaine reduces the need for other pain medicines, shortens hospital stays, and improves recovery and quality of life.
