NCT ID NCT05260307
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests three hearing aid adjustments to help people with hearing loss understand speech in noisy, multi-talker settings. Researchers will compare how well 220 participants (with normal hearing or hearing loss) can pick out words and sense where sounds come from, with and without the adjustments. The goal is to find simple changes that improve real-world listening.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
hearing aid adjustments (increased high-frequency audibility, speech envelope enhancement, sound externalization)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to better hearing aid settings that make it easier to follow conversations in crowded rooms.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage study testing different settings in a lab, not a real-world trial. Results may not translate to everyday listening or benefit all users.
