New wrist wrap aims to prevent artery blockage after heart surgery

NCT ID NCT06787287

Summary

This study tested whether a simple, modified method using a thick gauze pad combined with a standard pressure device works better than the usual method to prevent a blocked artery in the wrist after a heart procedure. Researchers enrolled 1,568 adults who had a coronary intervention through their wrist artery and randomly assigned them to receive either the new or the standard compression method. The main goal was to see if the new method lowered the rate of artery blockage and other complications like bruising, swelling, and pain within 24 hours after the procedure.
