First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looked at whether telling stage IV lung cancer patients the truth about chemotherapy's risks—including that it can sometimes make things worse—helps them avoid unnecessary chemo at the end of life. 123 patients were randomly assigned to either standard chemo discussion or an honest talk about risks. The goal was to see if this approach reduces chemo use in the last 30 days of life and improves overall care.
