Blood filtering tested as potential relief for debilitating fatigue
NCT ID NCT05710770
Summary
This study tested whether a medical procedure called immunoadsorption could help people with severe chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), including those with fatigue after COVID-19 (Long COVID). Immunoadsorption filters certain proteins from the blood, which researchers thought might reduce symptoms. Over 8 months, 66 participants received either the real treatment or a sham procedure to see if it safely improved their fatigue and other symptoms.
