ICU study: does a weak immune system lead to pneumonia in ventilator patients?

NCT ID NCT07551258

First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026

Summary

This study watches 170 ICU patients on breathing machines to see if a temporary weak immune state (immunoparalysis) raises the chance of getting pneumonia. Researchers will measure immune markers in elderly (65+) and younger adults, plus healthy volunteers. No treatments are tested; the goal is to better understand who is at risk.
