New study aims to cut drug side effects for stomach cancer patients

Summary

This study tests whether regularly checking imatinib levels in the blood can reduce side effects and improve quality of life for people with gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). About 28 adults starting or recently starting imatinib will participate. The goal is to see if this monitoring approach lowers severe side effects while keeping the drug at effective levels.
