First seen May 16, 2026 ยท Last updated May 16, 2026
Summary
This study looked at 502 people with heart failure who were getting an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) to prevent sudden cardiac death. Researchers used a special MRI scan to see if heart muscle scarring could predict who would later need a shock from their device. The goal was to better understand which patients truly benefit from an ICD.
