Mind over muscle: can imagining movement fight burn damage?

NCT ID NCT04467619

Summary

This small study tested if a therapy called 'illusory movements'—where patients imagine moving their limbs—could help control severe muscle loss and improve metabolism in people with large burns. Twelve patients with burns covering at least 20% of their body were involved. Researchers measured if this mental exercise could reduce muscle breakdown and change how the body uses energy during recovery.
