Scientists hunt for early warning sign of infection in unborn babies

NCT ID NCT07211503

Summary

This study aims to find a better way to detect inflammation or infection in unborn babies. Researchers will measure levels of a protein called IL-6 and lactate in the blood of 160 pregnant women and their babies' umbilical cords. They will compare these levels in women whose babies show signs of possible infection on a heart monitor to those with normal readings, hoping to find a link that could lead to faster treatment.
