Scientists probe hidden role of immune signal in stubborn sinus condition

NCT ID NCT05672030

Summary

This study aimed to understand how a specific immune system signal called IL-5 affects different cells inside nasal polyps, a condition causing chronic sinus problems. Researchers analyzed tissue samples from 30 people with nasal polyps and aspirin-sensitive asthma, as well as healthy volunteers. The goal was to gather knowledge about the disease process to inform the development of better future treatments, not to test a new therapy directly.
