Summary
This study aimed to understand why people with COPD often get bacterial lung infections. Researchers measured immune proteins called IL-17 and IL-22 in 23 hospitalized patients during a flare-up and when stable. The goal was to see if a weak immune response to bacteria leads to repeated infections. The study was terminated early, so results are limited.
