Race to save sight: UK trial pits brain shunt against stent
NCT ID NCT07440277
Summary
This study aims to find out which of two common brain procedures is better at preventing blindness in adults with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH), a condition of high brain pressure. Researchers will randomly assign 80 UK patients at risk of permanent vision loss to receive either a fluid-draining shunt or a blood vessel stent. The goal is to determine which treatment is more effective at preserving vision and which offers better value for the healthcare system.
