Scientists track mysterious immune deficiency for clues
NCT ID NCT00867269
Summary
This study aims to understand a rare condition where people have very low levels of a key immune cell (CD4+ T cells) without having HIV. Researchers will follow about 950 participants, including patients and their family members, for 4 to 20 years to learn what causes the condition, how it progresses, and why it sometimes leads to serious infections or autoimmune problems. The goal is to gather knowledge, not to test a new treatment.
