Scientists search for clues in mysterious lung disease

NCT ID NCT01264055

Summary

This study aimed to better describe a lung condition called idiopathic bronchiectasis, where the airways become abnormally stretched and widened for unknown reasons. Researchers observed 275 adults who had this unexplained lung damage to document their physical traits, lung images, and airway germs, and to look for possible genetic links. The goal was to gather information to help improve future diagnosis and understanding of the disease, not to test a treatment.
