Doctors test which ventilator setting best measures a Patient's true breathing strength

NCT ID NCT02939963

Summary

This study aimed to find the best way to test if a patient in the ICU is ready to breathe on their own after being on a ventilator. Researchers compared two different ventilator settings used during a short breathing test. They measured how much effort it took patients to breathe with each setting to see which one gave a truer picture of their natural breathing ability.
