ICU breathing machine study tests which setting gets patients off ventilators faster

NCT ID NCT05563779

Summary

This pilot study tested three different settings on breathing machines used in intensive care units (ICUs) for patients with severe respiratory failure. The goal was to see if one setting helps patients breathe on their own sooner than the others. The study involved 566 critically ill adults who needed machine-assisted breathing. Researchers compared how many days patients were alive and free from the breathing machine within 28 days of starting the study.
