Breathing in sedation: new ICU approach aims for faster Wake-Up

NCT ID NCT05327296

Summary

This study tested whether giving sedation as an inhaled gas (isoflurane) works as well as the standard IV drip (propofol) for keeping adult ICU patients comfortable while on breathing machines. Researchers compared how well each method maintained the right level of calmness, how quickly patients woke up afterward, and their mental recovery. The goal was to see if the inhaled option could be a safe and effective alternative for managing sedation in critically ill patients.
