Scientists probe why ICU survivors struggle to walk again
NCT ID NCT00937001
Summary
This study aims to understand why many intensive care unit (ICU) patients develop severe, long-lasting muscle weakness. Researchers will examine 50 critically ill patients using muscle ultrasounds, blood tests, and small muscle samples to learn how this weakness develops. The goal is to identify patterns that could help doctors better recognize and eventually treat this debilitating condition.
