Can extra protein stop ICU Patients' muscles from wasting away?
NCT ID NCT06714240
Summary
This study is testing whether giving critically ill ICU patients a higher amount of protein through their feeding tube can help their bodies build and maintain muscle better than a standard amount. Researchers will compare two protein levels in 26 patients who are on a ventilator and expected to stay in the ICU for at least a week. They will take small muscle samples to see if the extra protein actually helps slow down the severe muscle loss that often happens during serious illness.
