Can a simple tool make emergency breathing tubes safer?
NCT ID NCT04079387
Summary
This study tested if adding a bendable guide wire (called a stylet) inside a breathing tube helps doctors place it correctly on the first try in critically ill adults. It involved over 1,000 patients in intensive care units who needed help breathing. The goal was to see if this common operating room tool could make this urgent, high-risk procedure safer and more successful in the ICU.
