Immune clues in the ICU: can blood tests predict who will survive?
NCT ID NCT07345169
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study follows 540 adults admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) to see how their immune and inflammatory responses relate to their recovery. Researchers will collect extra blood samples at several time points over one year to measure immune cells and inflammation markers. The goal is to build models that predict survival and infections, which could eventually help doctors tailor treatments for critically ill patients.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could help doctors better predict which ICU patients are at higher risk of complications or death, leading to more personalized care.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not directly improve patient outcomes, and the findings may not apply to all ICU populations.
