Immune rescue for ICU patients: can a simple shot stop deadly infections?

Summary
This study is testing if a drug called interferon gamma can help prevent serious new infections in ICU patients whose immune systems have become very weak. Researchers will give the drug or a placebo to 326 adult ICU patients and monitor them for 90 days to see if it reduces infections, shortens hospital stays, and improves survival. The goal is to help control the dangerous immune suppression that can develop after a week in intensive care.
