Doctors probe hidden link between fluid buildup and organ health after heart surgery

NCT ID NCT07052461

Summary

This study aims to understand if fluid backup in the veins, detected by simple bedside ultrasound, is connected to poor blood flow in the body's tiniest vessels after planned heart surgery. Researchers will measure blood flow in small vessels under the tongue and compare it to ultrasound findings in 40 patients recovering in the ICU. The goal is to see if these easy ultrasound tools can help doctors better manage fluids and protect organ function after surgery.
