Could a simple salt swap in ICU fluids save lives and speed recovery?

NCT ID NCT07189091

Summary

This study is testing if using intravenous (IV) fluids with less salt helps adults who are very sick in the intensive care unit (ICU). It compares two strategies: one using lower-salt fluids for daily hydration and for diluting medicines, and another using the standard, saltier fluids. The main goal is to see if patients receiving lower-salt fluids have more days alive and free from machines like ventilators or dialysis in the first 90 days.
