Doctors test new ultrasound method to prevent fluid overload in critically ill patients

NCT ID NCT07438015

Summary

This study aims to test a new ultrasound method called VEXUS to help doctors monitor fluid levels in critically ill patients. Researchers will use ultrasound scans on 525 intensive care patients to see if this method can detect when patients have received too much intravenous fluid, which can cause complications. The study will also check if the method works when patients are lying face down, a common position for treating severe breathing problems.
