Can a simple diary heal the hidden wounds of surviving sudden death?

NCT ID NCT02874469

Summary

This study tested whether keeping a diary in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) could help prevent post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in patients who survived a sudden cardiac arrest and their family members. Researchers compared a group that received the diary along with usual care to a group that received only usual care. They measured PTSD symptoms in both patients and relatives over six months to see if the diary made a difference.
