New ICU program fights 'Brain Fog' to help critically ill patients recover

NCT ID NCT06054828

Summary

This study is testing a special nursing program designed to prevent delirium, a serious state of confusion, in critically ill patients on breathing machines in the ICU. The program, called mHELP@ICU, focuses on keeping patients mentally engaged, physically active, and well-nourished. Researchers will enroll about 266 adult patients to see if this approach reduces delirium, shortens hospital stays, and improves patients' strength, thinking, and independence after leaving the ICU.
