Breaking the silence: Eye-Tracking tech gives voice to ventilated ICU patients

NCT ID NCT07251530

Summary

This study is testing a new tablet device that lets conscious patients who are on a ventilator in the intensive care unit (ICU) communicate using only their eye movements. Many patients in this situation cannot speak and describe the experience as a 'nightmare,' which increases anxiety and complicates their care. The research aims to see if this personalized, eye-tracking tool is practical to use and can successfully help patients get their messages across to doctors and nurses.
