Doctors test a simple change to breathing tube removal

NCT ID NCT07130123

Summary

This study is testing two different ways to remove a breathing tube from patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). Researchers want to know if using suction to clear the tube right before removal helps patients breathe better afterwards compared to not using suction. About 120 adult patients who have been on a ventilator for more than two days will have their breathing monitored for three hours after their tube is removed.
