Do life support machines alter antibiotic doses? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT07287813

Summary

This study aims to understand if standard antibiotic doses work correctly for critically ill patients in the ICU who are on life support machines like ECMO (for heart/lung support) or RRT (for kidney support). Researchers will measure antibiotic levels in the blood of 40 patients to see if doses are too low (ineffective) or too high (toxic). The goal is to gather knowledge to help doctors better adjust medication for these vulnerable patients.
