Doctors seek clues to predict who needs a tracheostomy

NCT ID NCT07315477

Summary

This study aims to understand which ICU patients on breathing tubes for airway protection are most likely to need a tracheostomy (a surgical hole in the windpipe). Researchers will look back at the medical records of 200 patients to find common factors, like age or condition, that predict this need. The goal is to see if identifying these patients earlier could lead to better timing for the tracheostomy procedure.
