Common painkiller may shield Seniors' brains during surgery

NCT ID NCT07424001

Summary

This study tested if giving an ibuprofen dose before surgery could help prevent memory and thinking problems that sometimes occur after an operation in older adults. Researchers gave 76 men aged 65-84 either ibuprofen or a placebo (saltwater) before hernia surgery. They then checked for changes in memory, pain levels, and overall recovery quality to see if the pre-surgery ibuprofen made a difference.
