First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tested whether giving ibuprofen before hernia surgery helps older adults avoid temporary confusion and memory loss afterward. 76 men aged 65-84 received either ibuprofen or a placebo before surgery. Researchers measured thinking skills, pain levels, and recovery quality to see if the drug reduces brain inflammation and the need for stronger painkillers.
