Can a phone app reveal how exercise helps the brain in ataxia?

NCT ID NCT06177626

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study was designed to see if a smartphone app called iBlink can measure how aerobic exercise affects learning in people with spinocerebellar ataxia, a group of brain disorders that cause disability. The app tracks a simple eye-blink test that relies on the cerebellum, the brain area damaged in these conditions. The goal was to see if exercise improves this learning and if the test could be used as a marker of disease progression. However, the study was withdrawn before enrolling any participants.
