Scientists grow 'Mini-Guts' to battle bowel disease

NCT ID NCT05425901

Summary

This study aimed to create a new lab tool for developing future treatments. Researchers took tiny tissue samples from patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and healthy people during routine colonoscopies. They grew these samples into 3D 'mini-guts' (organoids) in the lab to test how they react to damage and potential therapies.
