Kidney transplant breakthrough: Biopsy-Guided drug plan may cut rejection and side effects

NCT ID NCT02444429

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looked at 346 kidney transplant patients to see if a biopsy taken 3 months after surgery could help doctors better manage anti-rejection drugs. Patients with mild signs of rejection were given extra treatment, while those with no inflammation had their steroids reduced. The goal was to improve long-term kidney health and reduce medication side effects.
