Low sodium danger: study reveals hidden risks in ER treatment
NCT ID NCT06781710
First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked back at the records of 1,000 adults who came to the emergency room with very low sodium levels. The goal was to learn how many had brain swelling from the low sodium itself, and how many later developed nerve damage from correcting it too quickly. By understanding these risks better, doctors hope to improve treatment guidelines and avoid serious complications.
