New MRI technique could spot lung trouble early in cystic fibrosis patients

NCT ID NCT04259970

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests a special MRI scan that uses inhaled gas to create detailed images of lung function in people with cystic fibrosis. Researchers want to see if this scan can detect early lung changes better than current tests, especially for those on new triple-combination therapies. The goal is to improve how we monitor disease and guide future treatments. About 64 participants will be followed for up to a year.
