Scientists hunt for hidden genes behind naturally low cholesterol
NCT ID NCT02354079
First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study aims to find new genes that cause very low cholesterol levels (a condition called FHBL). Researchers are recruiting 435 people with FHBL and their family members to collect DNA and urine samples. By analyzing the genetic makeup of these families, they hope to discover new targets for understanding cholesterol metabolism. This is an observational study, not a treatment trial.
