New eye camera aims to spot disease hidden from standard scans
NCT ID NCT07530783
First seen Apr 21, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tested a new, non-invasive camera that uses many colors of light to take detailed pictures of the back of the eye. Researchers wanted to see if this technique could find unique patterns linked to eye diseases like diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration. About 679 adults with healthy or diseased eyes took part at eye clinics in Melbourne, Australia. The goal was to learn if this imaging method can reveal features that standard cameras miss, potentially leading to earlier or better detection of eye problems.
