ICU oxygen study: does extra oxygen harm brain blood flow?
NCT ID NCT07377162
First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study looks at how short bursts of high oxygen affect blood flow in the brains of ICU patients on breathing machines. Researchers will temporarily increase oxygen levels and use a non-invasive ultrasound to monitor brain artery blood flow. The goal is to learn more, not to provide direct treatment, but the results could help doctors manage oxygen better in the future. About 80 adult ICU patients will take part, and the study involves minimal extra risk.
